June Academy Production-2022

We're so glad that your child is celebrating by participating in our June performance! We look forward to serving your child during their dance recital at WMBA! At White Marsh Ballet Academy, we are committed to parent involvement and communication. We find strength in working together as a team. Familiarize yourself with details for the June Production that are outlined below in order to have the smoothest most enjoyable experience!

Our 24th annual academy performance entitled “Live Out Loud” is coming soon. This information packet is being provided so that everyone has all the information required to allow for a happy and successful performance experience.

 

 

This packet includes information about ticket sales, program ads, pictures, tshirts, rehearsal schedules, costumes, and important things each student and family should know for the day of the performance.

WMBA will be holding 6 performances:

 

The classes will be sorted into 3 different groups: Show A, Show B, and Show C        Each Group will perform the same show twice!

The dates for your child’s class performance are included in the “Everything You Need to Know Matrix” included in this packet.

Harford County’s mask mandate has been lifted and masks are not required, however situations may change before our shows. If anything changes White Marsh Ballet Academy will inform you of any changes ahead of time.

TECH & DRESS REHEARSALS

Tech Rehearsals will be required at the Bel Air Armory between June 12-13. The week prior to the show, June 8-10, will be in studio dress rehearsals. See “The Everything You Need to Know Matrix” for your child’s specific class information.

 

PHOTOS

WMBA offers each student the opportunity to have class and individual photos taken in their costumes. Photos will be taken at WMBA studios on June 6-7. See “The Everything You Need to Know Matrix” for your child’s picture day and time. Purchasing photos is optional, but we would like everyone to be in the group photos. A price sheet will be emailed to you before Picture Day.  

 

TICKETS

On sale at the studio on Monday, May 2. We encourage you to get your tickets early! Tickets will be RESERVED SEATING and SOLD ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS. Tickets will be sold at the door, CASH ONLY.

 

Ticket prices are as follows:

  • In-Person       $20.00 per person 

  • Live Stream      $20.00 per show

 

PROGRAM ADS

Ads are a great way to recognize your dancer for all the hard work they have set forth this year. Ads must be turned in by May 7. See attached form in your email for additional information. Ad prices are as follows:

  • Full Page (7.5” x 4.5”)             $55.00 

  • Half Page (3.75” x 4.5”)          $40.00  

  • Quarter Page (3.50” x 2.25”)   $30.00 

  • Business Card (2.0” x 3.50”)   $25.00

Performance t-shirts are available for order now through May 7. These shirts are a great way to celebrate the performance. See attached form in email for additional info.

RECITAL FLOWERS

We are welcoming back The Commencement Group back to our End of Year show to provide flowers to celebrate your dancer’s hard work! Use the link below or in your email to Pre-Order your dancer’s flowers. We strongly suggest preordering the flowers considering supplies will be limited at the shows. The

Commencement Group will be with us at the Bel Air Armory, Tuesday through Friday, June 14-17.

COSTUME INFORMATION

 

  • Costumes will begin to be distributed the week of May 16th.

  • All accounts must be current for costumes to be handed out.

  • A parent or guardian should be available at the beginning of class during costume hand out week to receive any costume instructions or additional performance information.

  • Please let us know if you need help with sewing or would like to volunteer to help with sewing.

  • All costumes should be prepared before Picture Day. Remove your child’s costume(s) from the bags & hang them up when you get home. This helps with the wrinkles.

  • Keep costumes out of reach of your children prior to the show to avoid damage.

  • DO NOT IRON COSTUME - they will burn. You may hang near a hot shower to help steam out the wrinkles.

  • Check the “Everything You Need to Know” matrix for any additional costume accessories for your child’s class.

 

PICTURE DAY

June 6 & June 7

 

  • Check the “Everything You Need to Know” matrix for your child’s class photo day and time.

  • Picture Day is held at WMBA Studios, 8007 Corporate Drive, Suite G.

  • Dancers are encouraged (it is not necessary) to attend for the class photo, even if you are not

       interested in purchasing individual photos. 

  • If your child is not going to attend picture day, please be sure to inform someone at the front desk.

  • Students should be dropped off with their teacher in the lobby of the studio. They will be taken out the back door when their photo shoot is finished.

  • If purchased, individual photos will be taken immediately after the designated class photo time.

  • Pricing and package information for pictures will be provided a week prior to picture day.

  • Dancers must have all accessories, headpieces, makeup on and hair in their ballet bun to participate in the pictures. Everyone must look uniform for the nicest pictures possible.

  • All costumes should be prepared before Picture Day.

  • No underpants should be worn under tights.

  • All performers are required to wear a classical bun. Hair must be secured back with hair spray, gel, and hairpins. NO BANGS or FRIZZIES.

  • All headpieces should be placed securely on the RIGHT side of the head or around the bun.

  • No jewelry of any kind may be worn.

  • No nail polish.

  • Please make sure shoes and tights are clean with no holes.

  • MAKE-Up - Brown and gold eye shadow; Pink blush; Bright red lipstick

  • PLAN FOR DELAYS - We try our best to maintain our schedule for photos, however, we have experienced delays in the past. We ask that you allow extra time and patience during this extremely busy performance week.

 

DRESS REHEARSALS

June 8-June 10

 

  • Check the “Everything You Need to Know” matrix for your child’s class tech and dress rehearsal times and locations.

  • All dress rehearsals will be held at the WMBA Studio, 8007 Corporate Dr, White Marsh, MD 21236.

  • All students are REQUIRED to attend all tech and dress rehearsals for their class(es). If they don’t, they will be very confused on stage!

  • Please be prepared to have your child at the WMBA Studio at the assigned arrival time for your child’s scheduled rehearsal times.

  • Students should be dropped off with their teacher in the lobby of the studio. They will be taken out the back door when their rehearsal is finished.

  • Students for dress rehearsal should arrive with hair show ready (no make-up required) and in costume.

  • Just as in dance class, no jewelry of any kind is to be worn.

       PLEASE LEAVE IT AT HOME.

  • No nail polish is to be worn.

  • Proper color tights and shoes must be worn.

  • Students should have all costumes, shoes, and required accessories (see the “Everything You Need to Know” matrix for additional accessories). ● Don’t forget to tuck in the strings on ballet slippers (kitty cat whiskers).

 

TECH REHEARSALS

June 12-June 13

 

  • Check the “Everything You Need to Know” matrix for your child’s class tech and dress rehearsal times and locations.

  • All students are REQUIRED to attend all tech and dress rehearsals for their class(es).

  • All tech rehearsals will be held at the Bel Air Armory, 37 N. Main St, Bel Air, MD  21014.  

  • Parking is available on Main Street free of charge after 5:00 pm Monday-Friday. Parking is available at 23 N. Main Monday-Friday after 5:00 pm free of charge. Parking is also available in the parking garage at Hickory/Pennsylvania Ave. a short distance from the Armory.

  • Parking is prohibited behind the Armory (in the Marketplace lot)

  • Please be prepared to have your child at the Bel Air Armory at the assigned arrival time for your child’s scheduled rehearsal times.

  • Students should be dressed in classroom attire for tech rehearsals.

  • No jewelry of any kind is to be worn. If jewelry is worn, it will be removed. PLEASE LEAVE IT AT HOME. Backstage helpers are not responsible for any jewelry removed backstage.  

  • No nail polish is to be worn.

  • Don’t forget to tuck in the strings on ballet slippers (kitty cat whiskers).

  • Students will be permitted to leave rehearsals once dismissed by their teacher.

 

PERFORMANCE DAYS Check matrix for your childs show

June 14-18

 

  • Check the “Everything You Need to Know” matrix for your child’s scheduled performance day.

  • Please be prepared to have your child at the Bel Air Armory at the following times before the performance begins:

    • Tuesday, June 14- please arrive at 5:30 p.m. (Show B)

         ○ Wednesday, June 15- please arrive at 5:30 p.m. (Show B)

         ○ Thursday, June 16- please arrive at 5:15 p.m. (Show A)

         ○ Friday, June 17- please arrive at 5:00 p.m. (Show C)

         ○ Saturday, June 18- please arrive at 9:15 a.m. (Show A)

         ○ Saturday, June 18- please arrive at 11:30 a.m. (Show C)

  • ALL classes should arrive at the Bel Air Armory with hair and make-up done.

  • Students SHOULD wear costumes to the Armory. If the student is in multiple dances, they should wear their first dance costume. It will be in the same order as dress rehearsal

  • No underpants should be worn under tights. Dancers who have quick changes should wear a nude leotard and be sure the leotard is completely covered under their costume.

  • MAKE-U - Brown and gold eye shadow, Pink Blush, Red Lipstick

  • HAIR -  Classical Ballet Bun required for all performers. Hair must be secured back with hair spray, gel, and hairpins. NO BANGS or FRIZZIES.

AT THE PERFORMANCE SPACE

 

  • Parents should drop off their students with the teachers/backstage helpers at the back of the building and return to the front entrance to be seated. 

  • After the performance, please pick up your student in the outside courtyard. (When leaving the front of the building turn left)

  • We must follow Fire Marshall Safety Requirements meaning no parents will be allowed backstage or in the dressing room area. If this creates a problem for any student, please see the students’ teacher to make appropriate arrangements.

    • WMBA teachers and staff will be backstage to help your dancers.

  • During the performance, we require that you leave your child with the teachers/backstage helpers and enjoy the performance from the audience.

  • There will be a designated area in the auditorium for parents to sit if they are concerned their child may need them during the show. By sitting in this area, backstage helpers can find you more easily.

  • Auditorium doors will open at the front of the Armory prior to showtime. The shows are reserved seating only. Tickets will be sold at the door paid by CASH ONLY.

  • If you have someone with a health concern who may need assistance for seating, please see someone at our front desk prior to show week.
