Build vocabulary and technique while enjoying dance. Beginners and experienced dancers are welcome! Perform with the WMBA Dance Company in the Nutcracker Ballet and explore more styles by taking multiple classes!

Elements of Dance (Ages 7-10)
6-Week Session: June 22-August 1
Monday
Ballet II/Russian Technique (Ages 8 - 11)
At the start of the intermediate levels, students will begin to use one hand on the barre with an emphasis on continuing to work on placement and alignment. Dancers will be encouraged to count the music and name the steps. They will begin learning about turnout and correct body placement. Students at this level are taking 2 ballet classes weekly and may add Pointe Preparation class.
5:00 - 5:30 PM
Pointe Preparation (Must be instructor approved)
Class strengthens students preparing to start pointe work! As a preparatory class for beginning Pointe it is always done in soft ballet slippers as opposed to Pointe shoes. We focus on building strength and technique to ensure a smooth and safe transition. Students Our experienced instructors will guide you through essential exercises, preparing your body for the demands of pointe. Elevate your ballet journey with confidence! Students must take 2 ballet classes weekly.
5:30 - 6:30 PM
Jazz II ( Ages 8 - 11)
Join our jazz dance class to explore movement and expression. Focus on techniques like isolations and jumps while building strength. Our instructors will help you master rhythm and style. Refine your skills and have fun! Most students take Jazz and Modern along with ballet.

Musical Theatre II (Ages 9-12)
Welcome to our second-year musical theatre class, where creativity and talent flourish! In this dynamic environment, students will explore performance techniques, and choreography. Join us as we explore the magic of storytelling through music and movement! Most students take this class along with Ballet and Jazz class.

Tuesday
Ballet IA/IB (Ages 7 - 9)
A progression from our beginning level classes. Here, students will memorize combinations putting together a series of steps. We will focus on jumps, enhancing flexibility, and practicing across-the-floor combinations. Join us as we build a strong foundation and develop essential dance skills! Students often take Ballet, Dance Movement and Musical Theatre together.

Russian Technique (Ages 8 - 10)
A progression from Ballet IA/IB class! We’re progressing into longer combinations and a fabulous series port de bras and adagio to boost your balance and elegance. Let’s elevate your skills! Many students take Ballet along with Dance Movement and Hip Hop.

Dance Movement (Ages 6 - 9)
Join our Combination Class to explore Tap, Jazz, and Modern dance! Each week, you'll rotate through styles, building a strong foundation in essential skills to dive deeper into these exciting dance styles by advancing to the next class. Most students pair this class with Ballet and Musical theatre.
5:00 - 6:00 PM
Ballet IIA (Ages 8-11))
Dancers at this level will begin with classical technique at the Ballet barre, practicing combinations at various tempos. They will build strength, to link steps smoothly, and maintain correct posture. Center includes adagio, tendu combinations, jumps, and pirouette preparations, while corner work features jumps, waltzes and traveling combinations. Students must take two Ballet classes weekly and may add a Beginning/Pre-Pointe class. Add Jazz and Modern for best learning experience!
6:00-7:00 PM
Pre/Beg pointe (Instructor appreoval)
Students will focus on proper spine alignment, ankle strength, rolling through the foot, ability to hold turn-out from the hips, a well-elevated releve on demi pointe with straight knees, and correct distribution of body weight. Beginning Pointe dancers must be able to maintain turn-out while performing center combinations, hold a proper Ballet position with straight back and good turnout, pull up properly in the legs, and balance securely on releve. Students must have the emotional maturity necessary for the hard work and commitment that Pointe entails. Exercises will begin at the barre for safety and stability. Students will progress to exercises in the centre to practice their balance and increase their strength.

Modern IIA (Ages 8-11)
This Modern Dance class emphasizes technique and improvisation. It covers full-body movement, floor work, and introductory partnering and lifts. Dancers will practice spontaneous movement through engaging improv exercises to boost confidence and creativity in a supportive environment. Try this class with Ballet and Jazz

Wednesday
Beg/Inter Hip Hop (Ages 7 - 11)
Join our basic Hip-Hop class to build strength and stamina in a relaxed environment. Students will learn essential steps, explore rhythm, and focus on essential beginning steps and combinations. Most students take Tap and Musical theatre with this class

Beg/Inter Tap (Ages 8 - 12)
To progress from a beginning to an intermediate level in tap dancing, building on fundamental techniques. As you gain confidence, you'll incorporate more complex combinations and transitions, such as cramp rolls and time steps. Additionally, you'll practice intermediate routines and choreography. Students usually take Jazz class with Tap and Ballet
5:45 - 6:45 PM
Beginning Tap (Ages 7 - 11)
Join our beginning tap class, where you'll explore the clarity of sound and the rich variety of tap styles from Broadway to Rhythm tap. In our first sessions, you'll be introduced to the unique sounds created by different parts your feet, laying the foundation for solid understanding of rhythm and timing. Jazz and Ballet class pair well with this class

Ballet II (Dance company) (Ages 8 - 11)
Join our Russian ballet-based class, where you will refine your technique developing strength, flexibility, grace through traditional Russian ballet methods. Students will engage in a variety exercises, including barre and center work designed to build progressively in correct technnique. Students take two ballet classes each week
6:30 - 7:30 PM
Modern II (Ages 8 - 11)
In this beginning level class, we will focus on curving, bending, finding off-center balances, and learning how to drop weight effectively. Classes are performed barefoot staying true to the authentic essence of modern dance. Students love the beauty and freedom of modern dance! Jazz and Musical theatre or ballet are usually taken with this class

Jazz IIA (Ages 8 - 11)
One of the most popular and well known forms of dance. Jazz dance includes strength, flexibility and conditioning technique and progressions including turns and leaps. Learn fun and trendy dance steps that are used for all forms of dance. Dancers will learn choreography to popular and age-appropriate music along with vintage styles of Jazz from the previous decades.

MOVE IT! (Ages 7 - 11)
This class allows dancers the opportunity to strengthen their bodies to compliment their technical training and prevent injuries. A typical class will include some or all elements of the following:
