WMBA is listed as
one of the best places for Ballet in Baltimore
according to a recent article from CBS Local (WJZ TV)

Best Places To See Ballet In Baltimore
Among the contemporary
dance forms, ballet is by far the most demanding. The
dancers must sustain complete control over all aspects of
their bodies, with everything coming together in specific
movements to express an assortment of emotions. Anything
less than perfection is unacceptable. With this in mind, the
following are the best places to experience ballet in the
Baltimore area.

From its inception in 1997, the school
that places emphasis on the Russian ballet method has grown,
formed its own company and seen its students continue their
education at prominent dance colleges such as Julliard
School, Washington School of Ballet and the Ballet Theater
of Maryland. Directors Sandra Harris and Shari Vasquez
Bickel have over 40 years of professional experience between
them and strive to incorporate positive experiences with
technically-sound training. The company most recently
performed “Beauty and the Beast” at Perry Hall High School
in early May, and always puts on a yearly production of “The
Nutcracker.”

Welcome
to the White Marsh Ballet Academy
The Academy
opened it's doors in 1997 to a small group of summer camp students,
since then, the school has grown, formed it's own company in residence, and produced dancers
who have gone on to the most prestigious college programs in the
country. With small class sizes and personalized instruction,
the Academy is able to offer students the positive attention needed to reach
their potential in dance as well as all aspects of their lives.
The
Russian method of teaching is taught at the Academy. An emphasis on
proper technique, style and confidence are priorities at the Academy
as opposed to competitions and medals. Classes are offered for
children 3 and up as well as adults. A wide range of dance
disciplines are taught at the Academy including ballet, modern,
jazz, tap, hip hop, variations, pas de deux, pointe and choreography
development.
"TO
LIVE IS TO DANCE...TO DANCE IS TO LIVE"

Academy
Directors Sandra Harris and Shari Vazquez
Bickel
Both share the vision of
encouraging students to achieve their best through positive
instruction and encouragement. For those students who strive
to dance professionally, the Academy features a performing company
in residence which gives
dancers who are serious about a career in dance an opportunity to
perform in a professional environment. As former professional
dancers, the directors know what it takes to make it to the next
level of dance, and can guide students through the extra rehearsals,
sweat, and hard work needed to achieve their goals.
